Are you joining an online sound meditation for the first time? Not sure what to expect? I got you.
This article will help you better understand what to expect during an online sound meditation and how to best experience an immersive sound session.
An Immersive Sound Experience
An online sound meditation works with vibrational frequencies of a variety of instruments. In my case, a set of Tibetan singing bowls each uniquely handcrafted and containing different harmonic overtones and energies. The session begins with a guided centering meditation followed by both specific sequencing and intuitive playing with the Tibetan singing bowls. This is an opportunity for you to let go and unwind with a deeply relaxing sound meditation in high quality audio.
Before the online sound meditation begins, take at least 15 minutes to create a quiet, comfortable space for yourself (away from distractions). Make this a sacred space just for you. You can grab cushions, blankets, and some extra layers to ensure you are comfortable and warm for the session. Your body temperature is likely to cool down during a sound experience. I highly recommend an eye pillow or scarf and headphones for a fully immersive experience. Ensure you are in a space with a
strong internet or 4G connection. Close down all your tabs and programs to ensure zoom is running at its best capacity. Did I mention that high quality headphones make a big difference? They do!
Testing testing, 1, 2, 3. Welcome to the online sound meditation. I'm glad you could make it!
Upon arrival into the Zoom meeting, I will gently welcome you into the session. But, there's no rush! We'll slowly take the time to get settled in. At the same time, please be respectful and join at the indicated time. You will then be invited to lie down or take any other comfortable position that works for you. You will stay in this position for the duration of the sound meditation. So get comfy!
You will be guided through a centering meditation to induce a familiar savasana-like state followed by the harmonic sounds of the Tibetan Singing Bowls to create a deep-sleep meditative state. Allowing yourself to remain open and curious throughout the sound journey. With the gentle and magical sounds of the Koshi chimes, (always my clients' fav!), you will be slowly brought out of the meditation. Being gentle with yourself as you increasingly become more alert and aware. The session lasts 60mins, but I would recommend to carve out 75mins to not rush back into the real world :)
I hope you enjoyed the sound meditation! After the session, try to be gentle with yourself, drink plenty of water and rest well. The ripple effects of sound healing can continue for several days after a session. Be curious and open to observe any new, unusual, or unexpected physical or emotional sensations. If you require any support after the session, you can 100% reach out to me and I will try to help where I can. Feel free to send me an email or connect with me on the 'gram.
If you feel moved, I would absolutely love to receive a testimonial about your experience to showcase on my website and social media. Or, you can even recommend this session to a friend or family member.
I appreciate you!
Here's a quick summary of my Top Tips on how to best experience an online sound meditation:
Headphones, Headphones, Headphones!
Using a set of headphones or ear buds are in my opinion crucial to the sound meditation. They truly change the experience entirely. Grab yourself a pair of headphones to have the most immersive experience. If you are attending the sound meditation with a friend, please ensure you both use your own individual headphones for the best experience!
Set up your space
Take 15 minutes prior to the session to create a quiet, comfortable space for yourself. Blankets, cushions, eye pillow, candles are all welcome! Communicate with any family members or roommates that you are participating in an online sound meditation and prefer not to be disturbed.
Internet connection
Ensure that you have a strong internet or 4G connection. Close down all your tabs and programs to ensure Zoom is running at its best capacity .
Intentions
Take some time to think about your intentions for the sound meditation. What do you want to work on during this session? What feelings or sensations would you like to experience?
